Rome Day 11

So here are the photos from yesterday, Day 11. I guess today is Day 12 -oops.

Yesterday we got up early and went to the Vatican Museums and St. Peter's. Then in the afternoon, Dad and Darin went to Piazza di Spagna again to change money, and I stayed in the hotel. Last night we went down the street for dinner, and I haven't left the hotel since we got back last night because of the heat. Stupid Rome and it's stupid heat. I have been in this hotel for nearly 24 hours and I won't be leaving until we head up the coast tomorrow.

Vatican Museum.

Us waiting for Dad to return with tickets. The ceiling, because it's always the prettiest part of the room here.
This is where Pope Pius III slept. This was in his chambers, and we decided he slept on this one because it had no tourists sitting on it.
Pretty wall.
This sign means, "Don't fall down the steps, dumbass! Walk down them standing up!"

Dress code sign outside St. Peter's. We're really glad we went straight from the museums into St. Peter's and we didn't have to stand in line in the hot sun for a day and a half only to have our clothing criticized by Italians. It was sad we didn't see the Swiss Guard, or at least, they weren' in funny uniforms.

Sign go boom.
Dad's Photos:
Dad listening to some classical music that he'd been looking for forever, and finally found at the record store that they had to pry me out of.
Something in some gardens at the Vatican Museum. ...I'm getting overheated using this computer in this un-airconditioned room, so my comments are going to be short.

I guess this is my "trying to take a descent photo" face.
YAYAY!! You have no idea how hard we studied this piece of artwork like... my entire life. So it was awesome to actually see it. In person.
This was cool.

Statue in St. Peter's. Dome of St. Peter's.
Us in St. Peter's.
That's where the Pope talks from!

Us outside the Pope's place.
The Pope's place.
Us and the Pope's place.
Darin's Photos:
Dad going down the escalator into the metro.
The Metro.

The end.

I believe the statue with the woman holding the man is La Pieta, and it depicts Mary, mother of Jesus, holding Jesus just after the crucifixion. An interesting tidbit about it: If both were to stand up, she would be like 11 feet tall and he would be like 5. The artist made her larger so it would look like she was holding a child.
